Turn to Food to Elevate Your Mood

Most of us think that comfort foods are not good for us and that we must avoid them. Sometimes, if the comfort food is candy or another junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nourishing and good for us to consume. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, could better your mood. If you feel a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually wonderful at fighting back depression. Just be sure that you do not toss the yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to boost your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Consume an egg and feel better!

Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more of this chemical in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to raising your mood, can be a superb protein source.

If you want to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you battle your depression.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you are eating grains. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are fantastic at helping you feel better. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods too. Feeling famished can be terrible! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest and process. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You were simply expecting to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a particular amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same calming the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you become a lot healthier. Now you are aware that it can help you be happier also!

So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Try these hints instead!
